Angela Hill vs Lupita Godinez set for UFC Fight Night 212

No. 13 ranked UFC women’s strawweight contender Angela Hill has her next bout lined up, as she faces Lupita Godinez at UFC Fight Night 212.

UFC Fight Night 212 is to go down on October 15, 2022, live from a to-be-determined venue.

Angela Hill has been a longtime staple of the UFC’s 115 lb division at his point, first coming over in December of 2014 with a record of just 1-0. She’d debut on the set of The Ultimate Fighter 20, where she’d lose to the seasons champion, and current UFC women’s strawweight champion Carla Esparza (rear naked choke).

But, those fights don’t go on their professional records, and by time her UFC debut was all said and done, she was 2-0 as a professional.

A set of back-to-back defeats would however follow, to Tecia Torres (UD) and future, now former champion Rose Namajunas (rear naked choke), before she’d sign with Invicta FC.

Following two-straight Performance of the Night bonuses, securing knockout victories in each outing, she’d defeat 9-0 Livia Renata Souza to claim the Invicta FC strawweight championship, before defending it and resigning with the UFC, both title fights going all five rounds.

Hill’s career has been back-and-forth since then, but she has made a bit of a remarkable career resurgence as of late, though her record (13-12) states otherwise.

Though Hill went 16-0 as a professional kickboxer, she hasn’t been much of a finisher through her career.

Nonetheless, following her defeat to Yan Xiaonan, bringing her record to 9-7, she’d rebound with two-straight TKO victories, and follow it up with a third-straight victory over a fellow former kickboxer in Loma Lookboonmee.

Back-to-back split decision defeats to top contenders Claudia Gadelha and Michelle Waterson would come soon after, both fights of which she could’ve easily gotten the nod in, before she rebounded with a unanimous decision win over Ashley Yoder.

She could have been on a six-fight win streak at that time, many believed she’d won both of those latter defeats.

Nonetheless, Hill has since lost her last three-straight to Tecia Torres (UD) in their rematch, Amanda Lemos (SD) in another very close encounter, and lastly Virna Jandiroba (UD).

Lupita Godinez is much younger in her career, but she also came to the UFC after back-to-back five round title fights, where she captured the BTC & LFA strawweight championships respectively.

Coming over in April of 2021 with a record of 5-0, Godinez has gone 3-2 thus far into her UFC career and comes into this bout on a two-fight win streak.

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
