DWCS’ Elijah Smith credits father, UFC veteran Gilbert Smith for his career “I wouldn’t be here without him”

Elijah Smith (6-1) discusses his bantamweight fight against Aaron Tau (8-0) at DWCS On Sept. 18. Elijah also spoke about how this opportunity came together, why his opponent is easy to figure out and the impact his father, former UFC welterweight Gilbert Smith has had on his career,
“I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for him. A lot of people like to think I’ve been doing MMA my whole life, which isn’t the case. I started doing MMA in 2020 when Covid hit, where like I said, I was blessing enough to have a father that built his own gym. It was just him in the gym training, until I decided to take my first fight. From there it was history, he was in my corner since Day 1.”
