Joanna Jedrzejczyk vs Rose Namajunas
A third UFC title fight has been booked for the UFC’s return to Madison Square Garden. UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk will defend her title against Rose Namajunas, November 4.
The UFC’s second return to the world’s most famous arena also includes a bantamweight title fight between champion Cody Garbrandt and TJ Dillashaw. The UFC 217 event is headlined by a middleweight title fight as champion Michael Bisping defends against former welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre is returning from retirement.
Jedrzejczyk made the announcement herself this morning via UFC on FOX.
Jedrzejczyk (14-0) will attempt to tie for UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey’s record of consecutive title defenses (six) after victories over Jessica Andrade, Karolina Kowalkiewicz, Claudia Gadelha, Valerie Letourneau and Jessica Penne.
Namajunas (6-3) is coming is on a one fight win streak, a second round submission win over Michelle Waterson in April.
