The welterweight division is in a rich vein of form with many of the leading fighters in the UFC in the division. Kamaru Usman recently ended the lengthy winning run of Woodley to claim the belt at UFC 235. This meant he became the first African UFC Champion, which is an incredible achievement. An altercation with the brash talking Colby Covington has followed, which all but sets up for the pair to meet later this year. This has also now been confirmed by president Dana White following Covington approaching him over his next steps. Here we cover the credentials of the pair ahead of their heated clash.
The 31 year old known as ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ is the current UFC Welterweight Champion following his dominant decision victory over Woodley. He was a popular choice amongst many using the 12BET affiliate id offer, as he further extended his impressive professional record. His professional record now stands at 15 wins and 1 loss, in which he is unbeaten in the UFC. His defeat coming back in 2013 in just his second career start.
Usman will start as the favourite for this fight and there are odds available at 3/10 to support him. This is no surprise considering he has beaten several big names in the UFC that includes Demian Maia, Rafael dos Anjos and Tyron Woodley most recently. So how good is Usman as he continues to dominate his opponents and has now extended his win streak in the UFC to 10.

One of the most controversial fighters in the UFC who continues to gather attention with his brash talking and actions outside the ring is Colby Covington. The 31 year old fights out of the highly successful American top team and is another with a very impressive professional record. He is currently 14-1 with his only defeat coming back in 2015 at UFC 194. Since then he has continued to improve and has also beaten a number of the top names that Usman has defeated in Maia and Rafael dos Anjos.
Covington is currently a best priced 12/5 for this contest and his fighting style is similar to Usman, so it would be a very interesting contest between two stars of the welterweight division. Can Covington finally get his hands on the belt and end the winning run of Usman to establish himself as the biggest name in the division.
