Kayla Harrison dominates Marina Mokhnatkina at PFL 3

The Professional Fighters League returns to us tonight, May 6, 2022, for PFL 3 – 2022, going down live from the Esports Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Headlining the event is two-time Olympic gold medalist (Judo) and two-time PFL women’s lightweight champion Kayla Harrison, who aims to take out six-time Sambo world champion Marina Mokhnatkina.

Did Harrison remain undefeated, or was Mokhnatkina the one to take the 0 on her record away?

Official Result: Kayla Harrison def. Marina Mokhnatkina via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Harrison controls the first round, securing her first takedown about one minute in. She remains on top for a couple minutes, before Mokhnatkina rolls for a kneebar. Harrison is instantly wise to it though and keeps her top pressure until Mokhnatkina gets back to her feet to end the first round.

Harrison secures a body lock around Mokhnatkina and has her up against the fence for a couple minutes to start the second, and just as soon as we think Mokhnatkina is about to escape it, she’s tossed to the mat with a beautiful trip.

Mokhnatkina tries to defend off her back, and even tries for the leglock again, but wasn’t able to get anything going with it and remained on bottom until the remaining ten seconds of the round.

Harrison is able to secure the third round as well using her superior striking, size, and tie ups along the fence, though she doesn’t get any takedowns as she did in the first and second.

Kayla Harrison is now 13-0 as a professional, and still has yet to really be tested.

It’s a shame the UFC refuses to do cross-promotion bouts, but Bellator has a champion that’d be interesting; Cris Cyborg, perhaps the most successful women’s mixed martial arts fighter ever.

Harrison has made 145 lbs once before. Back in 2020 when PFL took a Covid break, Harrison debuted in Invicta FC and walked away with a second round TKO victory. Following the 2022 season, why not?
