Keith Thurman

Keith Thurman’s Pivotal Welterweight Return

Tomorrow night, former WBC welterweight champion Keith Thurman will make his return to the ring in Las Vegas, Nevada. Going up against another former champion in Mario Barrios, both men understand the weight of this fight, as it has significant title implications.

Thurman (29-1, 22 KOs), last seen in the ring against Manny Pacquiao in July of 2019, has been out of competition due to injury, his daughter’s birth, and COVID. Only have fought twice in the last five years, there are some questions as to how he will look against former Super Lightweight champion Mario Barrios.

Barrios (26-1, 17 KOs) is coming off a loss in a firework of a fight against Gervonta “Tank” Davis, in which he lost his super-lightweight belt and is now moving up in weight to meet Thurman at 147 lbs.

The two will meet in the main event this Saturday in Las Vegas in a fight that is crucial for the future of welterweight boxing.

The card will also feature what is sure to be another fantastic bout, as we will see Leo Santa Cruz (37-2, 19 KOs) take on Keenan Carbajal (23-2, 5 KOs) at featherweight.
