Kristina Williams discusses her upcoming Invicta FC flyweight title fight

Kristina Williams is all set for a huge opportunity in her career.

In a few days on Jan. 18, Williams will compete for the Invicta FC flyweight title when she fights Ketlen Souza at Invicta FC 51.

Ever since Williams left Bellator, she has been red hot as she’s tallied off three straight victories, including two under the Invicta banner.

The last time Williams stepped foot inside of the cage, she picked up her first stoppage win since her pro debut 2017 as she was able to lock in a rear naked choke and force Liana Pirosin to tap.

Following the win Williams wanted a title elimination and she was offered that fight against Souza in late September. Only upsetting thing about that fight is the world would never see it.

Williams suffered a broken orbital bone during her training camp and the injury forced her to miss six weeks and it would result in her withdrawing from the fight.

While Williams was unable to fight, she would have to watch Souza go on to pick up a unanimous decision win over Maiju Suotama.

Well as things turned out, Williams pulling out of that fight would not result on her missing out on a title opportunity as right before the holidays, Williams learned that she’d be once again matched up with Souza, but this time the fight would be for the vacant flyweight championship.

Prior to Invicta FC 51, Williams spoke with MyMMANews to discuss her matchup with Souza, what its been liking preparing for her in back-to-back training camps and what he long term plans are if she is to win the title.

You can watch her full interview in the video above.
