Ronda Rousey and horsewomen headed to WrestleMania 34?
Mixed martial arts fans have not seen former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey compete inside the octagon since her December 2016 first round TKO loss to current champion, Amanda Nunes.
Rousey, a longtime pro wrestling fan, recently became part of a “gimmick” or “tease” as she and her fellow horsewomen appeared at a WWE event. Marina Shafir, Shayna Baszler and Jessamyn Duke, rose to fame with MMA fans as Rousey’s career began to sky rocket. Baszler made the jump to pro wrestling and her stable followed with support.
At the WWE’s Mae Young Classic, the Four Horsewomen of MMA bumped into the Four Horsewomen of pro wrestling. Kairi Sane defeated Baszler in the finals of the tournament.
Yesterday the WWE announced a matchup for WrestleMania 34 but did not provide all the details. The Four Horsewomen of NXT (Charlotte, Becky Lynch, Bayley and Sasha Banks) were pictured, but their opponents were unidentified.
WrestleMania is WWE’s flagship event, airs on pay-per-view (PPV) and WWE Network and is the most successful and longest-running professional wrestling event in history.
WrestleMania 34 takes place at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, April 8, 2018.
Shafir recently became a mother and has not competed in MMA since 2015, while Baszler and Duke have a combined one win out of ten of their most recent fights.
Rousey already had a role in WrestleMania back in 2015 when she and The Rock paired up against Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.
