Source: Davion Franklin to face Marcelo Golm at Bellator MMA event on July 8

Bellator MMA heavyweight Davion Franklin, who is undefeated in his professional career, has his next fight scheduled. A source confirmed to MyMMANews that Franklin is scheduled to face Marcelo Golm at a Bellator event scheduled for July 8, but the source spoke on condition of anonymity since the promotion has yet to announce the event.

Davion Franklin is currently ranked 8th in the Bellator MMA heavyweight rankings, and most recently was scheduled to compete against promotional newcomer Daniel James at Bellator 280 but the fight was scrapped after James had a positive drug test. So far in his young career, Franklin has had all five of his professional fights under the Bellator promotion, with three first-round finishes in those five fights. The last time he competed, Franklin picked up a split decision victory over Said Sowma at Bellator 274. Unhapy with his winning performance, Franklin vowed better performances in his future fights.

Marcelo Golm is a teammate of Franklin’s most recent opponent Said Sowma, and will look to avenge his teammate’s loss in this upcoming matchup. Currently riding a three-fight winning streak to his credit, Golm is 9-3 in his professional career. Although he has a current winning streak, Golm has seen a fair share of his scheduled fights fall through, as he has had five cancellations since 2020.

The last time Golm competed inside the Bellator cage, he picked up a first-round TKO victory over Billy Swanson at Bellator 265, his first fight with the Bellator MMA promotion. A former UFC veteran, Golm went 1-3 with the promotion and was released following a three-fight skid. He has picked up two TKO finishes and one submission victory during his current winning streak.

Currently, the July 8 Bellator event does not have a number listed for the event, and a location has yet to be announced, with only one other fight, Douglas Lima vs Jason Jackson currently reported to take place at this event.
