UFC on ESPN+ 22 weigh-in results – Blachowicz vs. Souza, 3 miss weight

The UFC returns to São Paulo, Brazil with UFC on ESPN+ 22 this Saturday night. The event takes place at Ginásio do Ibirapuera and is headlined by a middleweight bout between Jan Błachowicz and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza.

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua meets Paul Craig in the night’s co-main event spot.

Bantamweights Tracy Cortez and Vanessa Melo both came in half-a-pound over the limit (including one-pound allowance), while late-notice replacement Isabella de Padua came in 4.5 pounds over the flyweight limit.  The fight will now be contested at a catchweight of 136.5 pounds. UPDATE ON UFC WEIGH-INS: CABMMA (Brazil’s athletic commission) executive director Cristiano Sampaio announced in a statement that Tracy Cortez and Vanessa Melo did not miss weight and that the error was due to an issue with the scale used by the commission at the weigh-ins.

De Padua is stepping in for Veronica Macedo, who was pulled from Saturday’s card due to severe headaches. The 28-year-old Brazilian is competing in the UFC for the first time.
