Body cam footage from responding police officers, shows Jon Jones damaging a police vehicle and being arrested on Sept. 25, 2021, just a few hours after being inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame for his performance in his UFC 165 title fight against Alexander Gustafsson in Las Vegas.
‘Bones’ Jones was initially arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery domestic violence and injuring or tampering with a vehicle, although he later reached a plea deal with prosecutors, agreeing to a lesser misdemeanor charge of destroying property.
The arrest took place shortly after police were called to a domestic disturbance at Caesar’s Palace. Hotel security observed Jones’ fiancee bleeding from her nose and mouth. She later gave a statement to officers and admitted that Jones got “a little physical” with her in front of their three children.
“Jon came back (from a night of partying after the induction ceremony) and was not very happy,” she told officers. When they asked her if things turned physical, she replied “Umm not too physical but a little bit yeah.”
The initials report continued to state that police officers found blood on the hotel bedsheets and a sweatshirt that belonged to Jones’ fiancee.
When Jones later headbutt the police cruiser the UFC Hall of Famer placed a dent in the hood which caused some of the paint to chip.
While some of the footage is bleeped out you can hear Jones grow frustrated with officers and accuse them of racial injustice.
“Humiliating me [on] my Hall of Fame night,” Jones says in the above video. “You f*cking nerd. I hate you. I hate you! I hate you! You f*cking nerd. I hate you so much.
“Say your name publicly. … You turned me in my Hall of Fame night, just because I’m big and Black. And what did I do? …. I came from my Hall of Fame ceremony, and I’m Black, and I did nothing to you.”
