Georgian Olympian Beka Gviniashvili set for explosive MMA debut At BRAVE CF: Georgia vs. The World

September 24, 2025 – Tbilisi, Georgia: BRAVE Combat Federation (BRAVE CF) has announced that it will host the highly anticipated MMA debut of one of Georgia’s most celebrated athletes, Beka Gviniashvili, at its first-ever event in the country.

The Olympic judoka, who has been a household name in the sport of judo for over a decade, will officially transition to the all-encompassing sport at BRAVE CF: GEORGIA VS. THE WORLD on Friday, October 3, at the Tbilisi New Sports Palace, in partnership with Georgian Fighting Championship (GFC). The historic event will headline the fifth edition of BRAVE International Combat Week.

Mohammed Shahid, President of BRAVE Combat Federation, stated:

“Beka Gviniashvili is a national hero and a world-class athlete who has already made history for Georgia in judo. To have him begin his MMA journey at BRAVE CF, and to do so in front of his home fans during our debut in Georgia, is truly special. Beka Gviniashvili, Olympic Judoka, stated:

I have dedicated my life to competition, and now I am ready for this new challenge. On October 3, I will give everything for my fans and my nation.”

Gviniashvili will square off against Azerbaijan’s Farid Mirzabekov in a thrilling middleweight contest, marking the beginning of what many expect to be an electrifying MMA career.

A decorated judoka, Gviniashvili represented Georgia at the 2016 Rio Olympics, where he placed seventh in the men’s 100-kilogram division. His résumé boasts some of the most prestigious accolades in the sport, including bronze at the 2015 World Championships, gold at the 2017 European Championships, and another gold at the 2023 European Games.

He has also stood atop the podium at the IJF Grand Slam four times (2016, 2019, 2022, 2023) and was a double World Junior Champion (2013, 2015).

With these achievements, Gviniashvili becomes only the second Olympian to compete in BRAVE CF, following the footsteps of Egyptian star Mahmoud Sebie.
