Alex Caceres vs. Sodiq Yusuff in the works for March Fight Night event

A battle of top-15 featherweights has been added to an upcoming Fight Night card in March.

According to MMAJunkie, after Alex Caceres mentioned the matchup in an interview with  The Schmo, Caceres has been booked to fight Sodiq Yusuff on March 12. MyMMANews was able to confirm the matchup with sources close to the situation. The location of the event has not yet been announced but will likely be at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

Alex Caceres (19-12 and one No Contest) has had a career turnaround of sorts as he is riding a five-fight winning streak dating back to July of 2019. His winning streak kicked off with a controversial decision win over Steven Peterson and he followed that up with a dominant decision victory over Chase Hooper. He then picked up a submission win over Austin Springer and in 2021 beat Kevin Croom and submitted Seung Woo Choi. Caceres is currently ranked 15th at featherweight and also holds a notable win over Sergio Pettis and has fought against the likes of Yair Rodriguez, Urijah Faber, and Kron Gracie among others.

Sodiq Yusuff (11-2) is coming off a decision loss to Arnold Allen back in April, the loss snapped his six-fight winning streak, it also marked his first loss inside the Octagon. Prior to the setback to Allen, he beat Andre Fili, Gabriel Benitez, Sheymon Moraes, and Suman Mokhtarian. He earned his way into the UFC with a decision win over Mike Davis on the Contender Series back in 2018. Yusuff is also currently the 12th-ranked featherweight.

With the addition of Alex Caceres vs. Sodiq Yusuff, the March 12 Fight Night card is as follows:

  • Magomed Ankalaev vs. Thiago Santos
  • Marlon Moraes vs. Yadong Song
  • Alex Pereira vs. Bruno Silva
  • Guido Cannetti vs. Kris Moutinho
