Buffalo Wild Wings BMF Wings Review - UFC 244

Buffalo Wild Wings BMF Wings Review – UFC 244

Inspired by the “BMF” title belt that Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz will fight for at UFC 244, Buffalo Wild Wings sports bars are serving up the perfect wing sauce for the occasion: the BMF wing sauce.

The UFC-inspired sauce combines the flavors of sweet mango, spicy habanero and the unrelenting heat of ghost peppers, which are then topped with the sweet and smoky chili pepper flavor of Desert Heat seasoning – creating a diabolical mashup worthy of the “BMF” moniker.

Review:

There are two flavors of wing sauce/rub that I order when I go to Buffalo Wild Wings; Salt and Vinegar, and the Blazin’.  Ordering the “medium” size selection of traditional wings will allow you to divvy up sauces three ways if you choose to do so.  Today, my third option would be the special “BMF” sauce which available for one day only, Saturday, November 2, in appreciation of UFC 244.

I don’t think there will ever be a better wing at BWW, than the salt and vinegar wing, it’s just my go to wing when I want flavor.  But… I love heat so, I also always go with Blazin’.  I don’t care how much heat you can handle, Blazin’ will always bring at least a tear to your eye.  It’s got just the right amount of heat to bring you within inches of painful bliss.

So, how did the BMF wings stack up?

Crispiness, right on point.  BWW cooks their wings just right.  You want a nice crisp wing, and you definitely don’t want it undercooked, or sometimes even worse overcooked.  Nobody likes a dry piece of chicken.  Luckily BWW is on point with temperature.

The sauce was plentiful, nice and thick, almost like a good bbq sauce you might want on your drumsticks during a summer cookout.  Was it hotter than the Blazin’?  No, unfortunately they were not.   When I think of the term “BMF” which ultimately stands for ‘baddest mother**ker’, I think “heat.” Exactly how hot can you get it?  But, there really wasn’t much there in terms of intensity on the Scoville scale.

Sure there was flavor, and I liked the addition of the Desert Heat rub being added to the sauce, not enough restaurants combine both a rub and a sauce, but in terms of qualifying for the “BMF” title, Buffalo Wild Wings fell short on this one.

Ultimately the Blazin’ wings which have been on the company’s menu since their inception, are king.

Would I come back for the BMF sauce if they offered it for more than just one day?  Absolutely, but let’s kick it up a notch.
