Dana White on UFC fighters betting on fights: “You’re going to go to f**king federal prison. Federal f**king prison”
UFC President Dana White addressed media following Saturday night’s UFC 282 fight card and addressed a variety of topics including UFC fighters betting on fights.
“We let these guys know not to bet on fights,” White said. “Do you know what the outcome of this is? If I penalize them, you get cut. You’re going to go to f**king federal prison. Federal f**king prison. If you’re that f**king stupid and somebody else wants to do it, knock yourself out. There’s not enough money in it to ruin your life and not go to jail, go to federal prison.”
White was later asked if he knew anything into the investigation that is taking place involving UFC fighter and coach James Krause. A UFC Vegas 64 main card fight between Shayilan Nuerdanbieke and Darrick Minner is under investigation by a U.S.-based betting integrity firm.
“How the f**k would I know? There’s an investigation going on. You think the people that are investigating call me and keep me in the loop on this? Why would they tell me? There’s an investigation going on on a fight that’s being fixed. Why would they tell me anything? I know as much as you know.”
Throughout the November 5 UFC Vegas 64 fight week Nuerdanbieke was just over a -200 favorite, yet just hours before their fight money poured in on Nuerdanbieke to win, and to him win by knockout in the first round, as well as the fight lasting under 2.5 rounds. Several sportsbooks ended up taking the fight off due to the amount of money coming in as Nuerdanbieke’s odds moved from -220 to -420 in hours.
