Daniel Pineda

Daniel Pineda signs with the UFC for second time in his career

Daniel Pineda is headed back to the UFC after being released from the company six years ago.

MMA Junkie reported the news after receiving confirmation from an Iridium Sports Agency representative that Pineda did indeed sign with the UFC.

Daniel Pineda (26-13) last fought in PFL, which ended when he failed a drug test and a subsequent suspension. While in PFL, Pineda made a tournament run and secured a slot in the $1 million PFL featherweight finale. Pineda never got a chance to fight in the finale as he was flagged for having an elevated testosterone-to-epitestosterone ratio in his system.

Pineda admitted his wrong doing in January and was given a six-month suspension from the Nevada Athletic Commission. He was also handed a $12,500 fine. Due to the failed drug test, he was removed from his scheduled $1 million dollar fight in the finale against Lance Palmer and his two wins that got him into the finale were ruled no contest.

The 34-year-old has fought in a number organizations. Besides for the UFC and PFL, Pineda also fought in Legacy FC/LFA, Bellator and Fury FC. He won the Legacy FC featherweight title.
