Darren Till to corner Chris Curtis against Jack Hermansson at UFC London

As we’ve all heard by now, former UFC welterweight title challenger and current no. 9 ranked middleweight contender Darren Till has been forced out of his scheduled bout with no. 8 ranked Jack Hermansson at UFC London.

UFC London is to go down on July 23, 2022, live from the o2 Arena in London, England.

This was expected to be a very exciting clash between a pair of top 10 talents, and it was Till’s chance to get back on track following a two-fight losing skid.

Till has actually gone 1-4 through his last five after opening up his career with a record of 17-0-1.

But his career has unfortunately become so riddled with injuries, yet another bout he was signed to compete in has been cancelled. Prior to this, going into his fight with Derek Brunson last September, he had four cancelled bouts in a row opposing Robert Whittaker, Jack Hermansson, Marvin Vettori, and Derek Brunson before eventually facing him.

Nonetheless, he’s been replaced by Chris Curtis, who now faces Hermansson at UFC London just over one week out from the event. This pairing will remain the co-main event of the evening.

Curtis came to the UFC just last year but has quickly racked up a promotional record of 3-0 with wins over the likes of Phil Hawes (KO), Brendan Allen (TKO), and Rodolfo Vieira (UD), who he just defeated two weeks ago in June.

But just because Till won’t be competing at this event doesn’t mean he won’t be there at the arena, as he’s chosen to corner Curtis in this match up.

Considering Till partook in two fight camps to prepare for Hermansson, this was a very smart choice of Curtis to agree.

He’ll be able to give some insight on how to defeat him, as Curtis of course comes into the bout on short notice.

On the contrary, Curtis will now have a chance to jump the line en route to a top 10 ranking.

Do you think Darren Till being in Chris Curtis’ corner will make a difference?

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
