Umar Nurmagomedov, Henry Cejudo

Henry Cejudo explains why he believes Umar Nurmagomedov is ‘the most dangerous guy’ at bantamweight

Henry Cejudo thinks Umar Nurmagomedov is the most dangerous guy in the UFC bantamweight division.

Cejudo is set to end his retirement in the main event of UFC 288 as he will face Aljamain Sterling for the bantamweight title. The plan for Cejudo is to beat Sterling and then move up to featherweight to face Alexander Volkanovski for the featherweight strap as he wants to be a three-weight champ.

With that, Cejudo doesn’t expect to stick around at bantamweight so he was talking about the division and revealed he thinks Nurmagomedov is the most dangerous fighter for a few reasons.

“Umar is the most dangerous guy,” Cejudo said on his YouTube channel (h/t MMAJunkie). “At 135 pounds, out of all these cats that I see, Umar Nurmagomedov is the toughest challenge for any of them, including myself. He can wrestle, he can strike, he can box, he’s well-rounded. He’s seen his brother and his cousin win world titles and he wants to be next.”

Currently, Nurmagomedov is ranked 11th at bantamweight and has been looking impressive but he has yet to get that big-time fight. But, he recently revealed he was offered a main event fight against Merab Dvalishvili but the Georgian was injured and couldn’t take it. However, if the UFC offered him the top-ranked bantamweight, perhaps he will get a top-five fighter next and prove Cejudo right that he is the most dangerous guy in the division.

Umar Nurmagomedov (16-0) is coming off a KO win over Raoni Barcelos back in January and before that, he scored a decision win over Nate Maness. Nurmagomedov is currently 4-0 in the UFC with his other wins being submission wins over Brian Kelleher and Sergey Morozov. Before signing with the Las Vegas-based promotion, he was the Gorilla Fighting Championship bantamweight champion and even fought in the PFL beating Saidyokub Kakhramonov who went on to fight in the UFC.
