Henry Corrales Has His “Hands Full” in Sixteenth Fight for Bellator

Henry Corrales tests skills with Akhmed Magomedov at Bellator 290 on February 4th.

Corrales appeared on Bowks Talking Bouts to talk about his decorated history fighting at The Forum, returning from injuries after over a year outside the cage, and more. Excerpts from our chat are below.

Corrales’ rich fighting history at The Forum in Inglewood

“Oh it’s great. It’s always cool to fight in your hometown with all your family and friends. So I’m looking forward to this one. I heard Bellator was going out there and I hit them up. I was like get me on this card and they were on it. So I’m pretty grateful about that.”

Returning after a bit over a year out of competition due to injury

“Oh yeah, it’s really nice, dude. Going into this fight, just a little bit of time off at the beginning of the year. Pretty rejuvenated and well rested. Ready to get at it.”

Corrales continuing his lengthy tenure with Bellator

“Yeah, we got another four fight deal with Bellator. This is I think my fourth one, fifth one? Yeah, fifth one. This is my sixteenth fight for Bellator. So yeah, we’ve been putting in work, man; for a minute now.”

Being on another Fedor card here as Emelianenko readies to retire

“So cool, what a legend. Yeah it’s been… What an honour. It’s my second time actually fighting on the same card as Fedor. So it was pretty cool last time and it’s going to be just as cool this time. So looking forward to it.”

Corrales’ thoughts on his next opponent, the unbeaten Akhmed Magomedov

“Yeah it was cool, you know. I’m always excited to fight any of these guys. So it was just one of those things, you know. They shot me the guy and I was like yeah for sure. Send the contract, let’s do this. Just watched some thing on him and he’s like a typical Dagestani wrestler but you know he strikes too, dude. He’ll throw lots of kicks and stuff. Aggressive, lots of takedowns. So looking forward to this one, man. Got my hands full.”
