Jabs and Jams #8: Music Fighters Train To
MMA fighters are always going full bore with arduous training. Motivation can fluctuate on a day-to-day basis but music is a sure-fire means to conjure up those feelings. The fuel to push through those last few reps, that last 100 meters of your run, or that last sparring session of the day. These euphoric feelings can come from genres of all types and fighters sure train to some eclectic tunes. This is Jabs and Jams: Music Fighters Train To.

“I’m a big country music fan, yeah for sure. At the gym we just kind of play generic. It’s a public building right. I don’t really like to instill my favorite songs on everybody else. Some guys don’t like country, some guys don’t like hip hop, whatever. We just try to keep it generic that way. But I definitely love working concerts. I do a lot of security work. It’s great to work the country concerts. I believe the crowd, the artists overall, it’s kind of like the MMA thing. Where you go to MMA shows, the fighters always sign stuff for people. They’re part of the community that way.”
“Country music is kind of that way for me too. The artists are very grateful and great attitudes. The fans are fun too. I find that fits well with my way of thinking. I love rock and roll too. Bleeker from out in Ontario. They did a show here and I thought they were awesome. I downloaded their music and bought their music from them…Country music with Tim Hicks and whoever. Then it goes to Tech Nine. Then it goes to George Michael. It’s kind of all over the map…I listen to Moonshine Bandits and they’re a county rap type thing. That’s my walkout song for all my fights.”
