Jasmine Jasudavicius on BTC 8 “The venue is less than 15 minutes from my house”

Jasmine Jasudavicius takes on Christina Ricker at BTC 8: Eliminator. The event goes in Niagara Falls, Ontario on Saturday, November 30th. It kicks off a 6:00 pm EST at Scotia Bank Center. The flyweight contest goes between two rising prospects. Ricker has twice the pro experience but Jasudavicius is riding a six-fight win streak dating back to her amateur run. BTC has done a lot to reignite the Ontario MMA scene and they’re doing their part to keep representing for Canadian MMA as a whole.

As far as watching tape on the opponent, this is something Jasudavicius allocates to her coaches. She stated, “They’re the ones that watch the tape and watch the opponent. I just work on myself. They’ll give me tips and tricks. Stuff to watch out for or whatever. My team has given me the freedom to take the fight where I want. Choose my own path.”

Niagara Top Team and Parabellum MMA are where Jasudavicius is getting in her work prior to this fight. Her main partners include a rising male bantamweight fighter and one of the contenders vying for the BTC strawweight title with all competing on the same card. Jasmine Jasudavicius said, “My main training partner is Teshay (Gouthro). It’s so awesome I get to fight on the same card as him. I have my girl Lindsay Garbatt who’s also on the same card. They’re my main, go-to ones.”

This is BTC’s first foray into the Niagara region and it has localized importance for Jasudavicius. She quipped, “I can’t wait to fight in Niagara. The venue is less than fifteen minutes from my house. So finally all my friends and family are able to come. So I’m going to have a huge support system. So I’m looking forward to that.”

As part of her preparation, Jasudavicius has been getting in work with the Brock University wrestling team. Jasmine Jasudavicius stated,  “I have the opportunity to work with all the talented athletes at Brock. Obviously under Marty Calder. The team is gearing up for Olympic Trials so everyone is going super hard. Just to be in there and feel the atmosphere, it’s just absolutely insane.”

Team grappling events have also paid dividends for her overall game too. Parabellum Quintet has been great for her submission grappling game too. Though she has her core gyms, Jasudavicius also has recently made a Syndicate MMA trek.

She quipped, “Actually Aaron Jeffery was down here initially. I ended up meeting him about halfway through his little stint there. And I had amazing training there. Roxanne was there. JoJo Calderwood as well. So it was nice having multiple girl partners. I don’t have tons of girl partners here so it was nice.”

These aren’t the only top level female fighters Jasudavicius has trained with as of late. She also got time with Randa Markos who came by her gym to get in work. Jasudavicius said, “Her wrestling coach and my coach are friends. So they came down and had a bit of time here.” Go to btcfight.ca for more info on this fight card and for relevant ticket information.
