Melvin Guillard cleared for fight, booked for Bare Knuckle FC card

Former UFC fighter Melvin Guillard, 39, has been cleared to compete after a lengthy period of ineligibility.

“The Young Assassin” Guillard who holds a professional mixed martial arts record of 32-22-2 and a pro bare knuckle record of 1-5, will return to Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship later this month.

At BKFC 31 on October 15, Guillard meets promotional newcomer Evgeny Kurdanov (4-0), officials recently announced. The event takes place at 1st Bank Center in Broomfield, Colorado.

Guillard was booked to compete Feb. 19 against Ulysses Diaz but that fight was pulled from the card after the Florida Athletic Commission in conjunction with the Association of Boxing Commissions and Combative Sports (ABC) intervened.

“After doing due diligence, the executive director Patrick Cunningham found a serious concern with the health of Melvin Guillard,” a statement issued by the ABC read. The association also placed Guillard on suspension pending a neurological exam per a report from Nolan King of MMA Junkie. According to MixedMartialArts.com, the official ABC database, Guillard is no longer under suspension.

UPDATE: One day after the fight was announced, the Colorado Office of Combative Sports and Colorado Combative Sports Commission decided to reverse their decision.
