WSOF to debut new theme song “Here We Go” in Kansas City
Tonight in Kansas City, World Series of Fighting lightweight champion Justin Gaethje was to defend his title against Ozzy Dugulubgov in the main event of WSOF 33. That fight is now scrapped however after Dugulubgov fell ill with a headache and low blood pressure and had to be taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
It was also supposed to be the debut of Gaethje’s new walkout song written by fight music producer, Mikey Rukus. The song is also the new theme song for World Series of Fighting and will still be debuted tonight at WSOF 33.
“We began production in July on the track. I worked closely with CEO Carlos Silva and team including Melissa Rodriguez Kevin Alires and Ray Sefo,” Rukus tells MyMMANews.com.
“We went thru three or four different versions all different styles and about 50 revisions to find the right style and creative direction. I brought in a Co-Producer “AmpOnTheTrack” to help me pinpoint the right hip hop flavor they were looking for and once we nailed it down things picked up quickly. Justin Gaethje caught a listen and I was told he loved it so much he wanting to walk out to it. I’m not sure if it’s his permanent song but definitely an honor to usher him into battle which has always been my goal,” Rukus said.
“This theme song for WSOF production is just the beginning. By WSOF 34 you will hear custom music designed for their Tale OF The Tape Graphics, Fight Announcement screens, commercial bumps etc,” Rukus said.
“All of the music will tie to the new main theme and create a specific branded story arc for the product they present to their fans. I am especially excited to see this thru as I believe it is a missing element that a lot of productions miss out on. It’s my job to tell that complete story and summon the emotions of the audience thru music,” he said.
