Solo Hatley

Solo Hatley Jr. has no fears on short notice call at Ring of Fire

I met fighter Solo Hatley Jr. in a group on Facebook and became a fan instantly once I got to see how he interacted with the many fans who follow him.  Chris “Solo” Hatley is a young (22) fighter who is just getting started in the sport of MMA.  Hatley has gotten off to a 2-1 professional record and is a big fan of former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo.

While this is my first time covering him, it is not the first time that MyMMANews has seen him perform.  Eric Kowal and William McKee were at Hatley’s last amateur bout at PA Cage Fight 29 where he picked up a unanimous decision win over Aaron Kennedy in September 2017.  In the few short months since that time he has fought three times professionally.

He tells me…

“I’m not a patient person.  I’ve been asking my coach about taking another fight and he’s been telling me to remain patient.  When this opportunity came up, I had no fear taking it.  Ring of Fire is in Oklahoma and my opponent is Cory Jennings.  He doesn’t have a really good record, but he has a huge following so I’m going into his hometown and getting that win.”

Hatley was a huge Floyd Mayweather Jr. fan as a youth and has taken his love of boxing into mixed martial arts where he works on having a well-rounded game. Solo says that he can see so much improvement in himself over the past year.  He’s changed camps and feels that he is ready for more challenges. Taking a fight on such notice proves that.  Check out our full interview below. Hatley tells us about how he became involved in mixed martial arts and what motivates him.  We look forward to hearing from him on a regular basis.
