Interview with Tucker Lutz above
As the old saying goes, “better late than never.” A proverb that has successfully proven to apply to Baltimore, Marylands Taylor “Top Gun” Lutz. Following two successful outings on Dana Whites Contender Series, Lutz was awarded his long-awaited UFC contract.
“I think I’m a little overdue,” Lutz laughs. Explaining, My goal was always when I started competing in the sport was to be in the UFC by the time I was 25. I turned 26 in July so I’m a little late. But better late than never as they say”.
Coming into this stint on DWCS, Lutz was labeled as the underdog in his bout against Sherrard Blackledge, “which really blew my mind,” he said. However, following a three round dominant unanimous decision, Lutz accomplished a lifelong goal, pursuit, and passion culminating in his win on November 17th. Lutz, who worked a full-time career in HVAC previously, now has the freedom, financial security, and determination to shift all of his attention to his career as an elite professional mixed martial artist.
As far as Lutz’s immediate future, he says, “I’m going back down to 45 after this fight. I spent most of my career down there. I feel I have a size advantage and I think while I can make the weight, I might as well.”
Touching on potential upcoming matchups, Lutz says, “I’m willing to take tough fights to get me to that title shot the quickest.” Entailing, “whoever they throw at me!” Concluding, “I’m confident in my skills”
