Alex Lohore: Looking For The Big Fights In 2022

With France just recently legalizing MMA within it’s nation’s border, we are seeing a plethora of young French talent emerging on the MMA scene. One of those French talents has been around for years and fighting across the globe. Fighting in the professional ranks since 2014, “Da Killa Kid” has earned victories over the likes of Colin Fletcher and Dan Vinni in Bellator as well as Nathan Jones in BAMMA, where this fighter also served as the BAMMA welterweight champion. Meet OKTAGON MMA’s Alex Lohore.

Entering The World Of MMA

Growing up on the tougher streets of Paris, France, Lohore eventually found combat sports. This would serve as a way to escape that life. After being arrested at the age of 13 by French authorities, Lohore relocated to the United Kingdom to continue life. Like many other fighters, Lohore found combat sports at a young age. “I got into combat sport at the age of 18 but only for few months I started with boxing but I could not keep up the membership payment so I had to stop them in 2013 I started MMA,” Lohore told MyMMANews.

The boxing and striking background can easily be seen in his record with nine of his career 20 wins coming by KO/TKO including five of those in the first round of action. Lohore’s first amateur bout, according to Tapology, came in June 2013 at the age of 24. After a handful of amateur wins in England, Lohore took his professional debut in December 2014 at Fury MMA in the United Kingdom where he secured the first round rear-naked choke submission win to launch his career. After starting off on a four-fight losing streak, Lohore dropped a bout and went on a solid 10-fight winning streak including wearing BAMMA gold and a couple of Bellator victories.

Becoming One Of Europe’s Elite

On a six-fight winning streak from November 2015 to February 2017, Lohore received the call from Bellator to appear on the Bellator 173 card in Northern Ireland. Across the cage was the enigma known as “The Freakshow” Colin Fletcher. Lohore handled business after a tough first round earning the second-round submission for his first big-stage victory. Three months later, Lohore was back in the Bellator cage, this time for Bellator 179 where he earned another finish, a second-round TKO against Dan Vinni in May 2017.

Gold was in Lohore’s immediate future as his next bout would be in the main event of BAMMA 31 in September 2017 for the vacant welterweight championship. As the first round was coming to an end, Lohore scored the knockout to earn the victory and the championship. Another main event title defense was on the docket for the champion  as he reentered the BAMMA cage less than two months later and dominate again. This time, Lohore locked in the first-round submission on Richard Kiely. A close split-decision loss to Terry Brazier did not stop Lohore. He continued to compete at a high level, this time on the Cage Warriors scene. Since October 2018, Lohore has competed under the Cage Warriors banner. Most recently he has been under the OKTAGON banner based out of the Czech Republic.

What Does The Future Hold?

With his most-recent victory, it’s likely we see Lohore earn an OKTAGON title shot in early 2022. But we may also see a move up in weight class. “I am seeing what is going to happen for me next as my body is growing. Not sure if I can still make welterweight. I May be looking at a move to middleweight or changing my training and diet again. I will definitely fight 3 times minimum in 2022,” Lohore stated. Now that he is in the neighboring nation to KSW, it would be a great addition for Poland’s elite organization to add Lohore to their stacked roster.

There is no doubt, a battle with a striker like Alex Lohore and welterweight champion Roberto Soldic would open many eyes in France. “I been asking for the Soldic fight for a long time. That fight is massive,” Lohore also stated about the potential matchup. Also, appearing in the UFC is a goal for Lohore. There is no doubt with a solid showing in Eastern Europe, he could find a landing spot in the UFC.
