Arman-Tsarukyan

Arman Tsarukyan says he ‘needs’ Michael Chandler’s name on his resume

Arman Tsarukyan is hoping to secure a fight with Michael Chandler next time out.

Tsarukyan scored a third-round stoppage win over Joaquim Silva in a fight he did overcome adversity in as he did get wobbled. Yet, the eighth-ranked UFC lightweight got the win and now eyes a fight with Chandler as he doubts the Conor McGregor fight happens and believes he can KO Chandler.

“That fight, it makes sense,” Tsarukyan told The Schmo. “That fight give me a lot of opportunity. Michael Chandler, he’s a star in our division. He has a lot of experience and I need his name on my list. I wanna beat him, I wanna knock him out and show who is the new generation.”

Although Arman Tsarukyan wants Michael Chandler next and doesn’t think the McGregor fight will happen, it’s likely ‘Iron’ will wait for that as long as possible.

However, if the Chandler fight doesn’t happen, Tsarukyan is adamant he should get someone in the top-five next time out. He believes he deserves it, especially after so many fighters have turned him down lately.

“Definitely it’s gonna be someone from the top-five. They can’t give me someone from like top 15 or unranked because I deserve [after] I finished this guy and I am here. They gotta give me someone from the top and I want to get the title shot. I feel so confident because when I spar with fighters, I feel so much better than them,” Tsarukyan said. “I just feel like I can beat everybody and I know if they’re gonna give me someone from the top-five, I’m gonna show my performance and my shape.”

Tsarukyan is currently 20-3 and 7-2 in the UFC and coming off the win over Silva which extended his win streak to two after beating Damir Ismagulov. Before the win over Ismagulov, Tsarukyan suffered a split decision loss to Mateusz Gamrot in his first UFC main event. He also holds notable wins over Matt Frevola, Olivier Aubin-Mercier, and Christos Giagos among others.
