Co-headlining the event was a featherweight contest between no. 10 ranked Bryce Mitchell (16-1) and no. 12 ranked Dan Ige (17-7). Official Result: Bryce Mitchell def. Dan Ige via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28)

Ige’s boxing looks good early on as he’s able to tag Mitchell up whilst defending his takedown attempts. Mitchell does however secure a takedown straight into mount with one minute left in the opening round, holding the position until the bell sounded.

Round two is quite similar; Ige stuffing Mitchell’s early takedown attempts while landing heavy punches, though he’s again taken down, this time with two minutes left in the round. Mitchell again remains on top, transitioning to the back before settling back into mount where he attempted an arm-triangle choke as the round closed.

Mitchell began round three absolutely dominating Ige with his grappling, securing an early takedown that saw him spend some time in mount, as well as some time in back mount. Ige is able to get on top in the final minute of the fight, ending it in an advantageous position.

Bryce Mitchell’s strength and wrestling were on full display once again as he gets back to his winning ways tonight at UFC Vegas 79.

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
