Chatri Sityodtong on lack of AEW and ONE collab during TNT run
ONE Championship did a series of weekly broadcasts on TNT throughout the month of April.
Another known entity on TNT is All Elite Wrestling with the pro wrestling show now having a couple of years underneath them on that station. But the crossover was quite minimal between AEW and ONE both prior to and during that April run of mixed martial arts shows.
ONE heavyweight champion Arjan Bhullar has often showcased an affinity for pro wrestling on his social media. Bhullar even called out AEW star Jake Hager who also is a Bellator MMA fighter and did so earlier this summer after his title win was broadcasted.
Current AEW world champion Keny Omega did some videos and social media shout-outs for some of the ONE fighters (ie/ Shinya Aoki, Eddie Alvarez, etc). But that seemed to be about the extent of the collaboration between the pro wrestling and MMA bodies.
I spoke with ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong and got some insights into the lack of an AEW and ONE collab.
AEW and ONE collab
Why AEW and ONE Championship didn’t collaborate a great deal during ONE’s April TNT run
Chatri Sityodtong stated, “Our social media teams might have spoken but Tony Khan and I never had a chance to meet up or speak. I’m definitely open to working with WWE or AEW. But nothing serious or of significance has occurred yet. But of course, it’s always in the back of my mind that hey, there could be some fun stuff to do together. It may or may not pan out depending on…I always say whatever you do, it has to be a win-win. All parties have to win. I just haven’t had any serious discussions yet. So there’s just nothing I can comment on.”
