Cowboy and Niko Price verbally agreed to meet on Sept. 19

Donald Cerrone and Niko Price, have verbally agreed to fight.

One of the most active fighters in UFC history and on the rooster, has accepted his next fight, as welterweight Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Niko Price have agreed to a bout on Sept. 19.

The UFC has not officially announced the welterweight scrap or a location for the event.

Cerrone (36-15 MMA) is looking to end a four-fight losing streak and is 0-2 in 2020, including a controversial loss via decision to Anthony Pettis at UFC 249 in May. Cerrone, 37, began the year with a knockout loss to Conor McGregor at UFC 246. After putting together a nice run that put him back in title contention, However, Cowboy is in his worst patch in his career. Just a little over a year ago, Cowboy was just a win away from a title shot. Then he fought Tony Ferguson at UFC 238. Then lost to current interim title holder Justin Gaethje, in 2020 Cowboy fell short against, Conor McGregor and Anthony Pettis. Now, the UFC’s all-time wins leader will attempt to score his 24th octagon triumph. Cerrone, 37, holds a 23-12 record in the UFC and a 36-15 (1 NC) pro record overall record.

Price (14-4 MMA) is one of the more exciting fighters in the welterweight division.  An American Top Team representative, Price has won four performance of the night bonuses during his UFC tenure. He is coming off an entertaining TKO loss to rising contender Vicente Luque in May. “Hybrid” has bounced wins and losses over his past seven contests, but always brings excitement win or lose with just one decision result in his career. Price is 6-4 (1 NC) in the UFC, with none of his fights going to the judges’ scorecards.

The UFC has not announced a main event for the Sept. 19 event. The promotion was looking at formalizing a middleweight title fight between Israel Adesanya and Paulo Costa on that date.
