Cub Swanson: Living Legend To Feature at UFC Vegas 78

Cub Swanson is a featherweight legend. Having once fought for the title against Jose Aldo in 2009, his names of fighters beat is a who’s who of featherweight greats. Charles Oliveira, Dustin Poirier, Jeremy Stephens, and more have fallen by his hands. In 2016, he and Doo Ho Choi put on the Fight of the Year. Get a load of this:

Recent years haven’t been as kind to the battle-tested Cub Swanson. In 2019, he grappled Jake Shields in Quintet where he tore his ACL and meniscus. After returning, he defeated Daniel Pineda with a round 2 knockout. He then ran into Giga Chikadze on his rise and was finished to the body. Not to be deterred, Swanson had a fantastic finish of Darren Elkins with a wheel kick.

In his last fight, Swanson moved down to bantamweight for one fight and Jonathan Martinez lit his legs up to get the win. He looks to rebound and win his second fight in a row at featherweight.

Don’t sleep on Hakeem Dawodu

Just because Swanson is tested doesn’t mean Hakeem Dawodu at UFC Vegas 78. Dawodu may not be the fan favorite that Swanson is, but he is a tough fight for anyone.

His first big win was against Zubarua Tukhogov who coasted in the third round of a close fight and handed Dawodu the win on a silver platter. He returned against the tough Movsar Evloev which he lost via decision. He was then marched up against Mike Trizano, a winner of The Ultimate Fighter, and won that decision to bounce back.

His last fight came nearly a year ago, which was a loss to Julian Erosa. He was linked to a fight with Lucas Almeida in June of this year but pulled out of that fight. He, too, hopes to get back on track and get a win under his belt.
