Gegard Mousasi vs. Fabian Edwards booked to headline Bellator Paris in May

Gegard Mousasi is looking to return to the win column in May.

On Thursday, Bellator announced via a press release that the promotion is set to return to Paris, France on May 12 at the Accor Arena. Along with that, the promotion announced a couple of fights including the main event which sees former Bellator middleweight champ Gegard Mousasi taking on second-ranked middleweight contender Fabian Edwards. The main card will also air on Showtime.

Gegard Mousasi (49-8-2) lost his middleweight title back in June at Bellator 282 as he suffered a decision loss to Johnny Eblen. Prior to that, Mousasi was on a four-fight win streak with title defenses against Austin Vanderford and John Salter both by KO while he reclaimed the title by defeating Douglas Lima at Bellator 250 to win the vacant middleweight title.

Mousasi is a two-time Bellator bantamweight champion as he lost the belt for the first time to Rafael Lovato Jr. by majority decision. Prior to signing with Bellator, the 37-year-old who is ranked number one in Bellator’s middleweight rankings had fought in the UFC. In his career, he holds notable wins over Rory MacDonald, Thiago Santos, Uriah Hall, Chris Weidman, Vitor Belfort, Dan Henderson, Jacare Souza, Ilir Latifi, and Mark Hunt among countless others.

Fabian Edwards (11-2) is on a two-fight winning streak and is coming off a decision win over Charlie Ward at Bellator 287. Prior to that, the Brit scored a first-round knockout win over Lyoto Machida in May to snap his two-fight losing skid. His two losses were both by decision to Vanderford and Costello van Steenis. The 29-year-old Brit is 7-2 in Bellator.

With Mousasi vs. Edwards booked as the main event, Bellator Paris is as follows:

  • Gegard Mousasi vs. Fabian Edwards
  • Sidney Outlaw vs. Mansour Barnaoui – lightweight grand prix
  • Saul Rogers vs. Davy Gallon
  • Thibault Goti vs. Kane Mousah
