Junior dos Santos hurts shoulder, Yorgan De Castro wins at Eagle FC 47

Eagle Fighting Championships returned to us tonight, May 20, 2022, for their 47th installment headlined by former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos and fellow UFC veteran Yorgan De Castro.

Eagle FC 47 went down live from the FLXcast Arena in Miami, Florida.

Dos Santos has had a rough go as of late, losing his last four-straight en route to his departure from the UFC, while De Castro has already gone 2-0 (1-0 in Eagle FC) since leaving the promotion.

Official Result: Yorgan De Castro def. Junior dos Santos via TKO (shoulder injury) at :35 of round three

Both men come out cautious in respect for the others power.

Dos Santos throws and lands the first strike 30 seconds in, a beautiful round kick to the leg, evading some very heavy leather on the exit as De Castro attempted to counter it.

The round is spent with dos Santos controlling the distance and pace with his leg kicks.

As soon as he saw De Castro is trying to sit down on his punches and box, this has become the perfect weapon for dos Santos to use. De Castro is able to end up landing a couple of those overhand rights he was throwing but was unable to get anything significant going.

De Castro had a better second round, as he’s able to land a couple hard punches and some more leg kicks, but he’s switching stances much more often now that dos Santos is kicking his leg even more than he did in the first.

His leg is really starting to bother him, and it’s all the inside and outside leg kicks from the former UFC champion.

Dos Santos throws an overhand right in the beginning of the third round, and unfortunately, his shoulder pops out of its socket, and the fight was stopped.

This is a truly unfortunate circumstance. He was looking incredible, and he was on his way toward victory. It would’ve been his first since March of 2019. Now, technically, he’s lost his last five-straight all via knockout.

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
