Kyle Kahler Cage Wars Lightweight Title Defense Interview

The “Catdaddy” himself joined Carroll’s Corner MMA Podcast to speak about his upcoming fight where he will defend his Cage Wars lightweight title for the first time. Kyle Kahler will headline the Cage Wars on June 25, fight card at the Albany Armory against undefeated challenger, Harley Locklear.

Kahler talks about his upcoming fight and the challenges Locklear will present him. As he is only five pounds over in weight, the champion enjoyed a cold brewski while on the CCMMA Podcast. In addition, Kahler’s cats invaded the interview while we were speaking.

The Mohawk Valley MMA fighter explains why he went up in weight, which had nothing to do with his teammate, Brendan Kennedy, who is also a Cage Wars champion at featherweight. MV-MMA fighters will be littering the fight card come Friday, June 25, the first fight card for Cage Wars since the Covid-19 pandemic shutting everything down.

The current lightweight champion of Cage Wars is a guy you can see turn the corner in his technique as the fights continued and his experience inside the cage increased. Kahler’s striking became more accurate and crisper. In his quest for the title, Kalher fought off a Black Belt in Jiu-Jitsu to keep the fight standing where he picked apart his foe on his way to a first-round TKO at 2:49.

Kalher believes the toughest part of being a champion is defending it and he is prepared to defend his strap. The Marine Corps Veteran also speaks about how he remembered his fellow Marines on Memorial Day this year.
