Maciej Kazieczko: “I’m Looking For a Way to End the Fight Ahead of Time”

KSW 60 is set to take place on Saturday, April 25, 2021, in Poland. The nine-fight card will feature two title fights including light heavyweight champion Tomasz Narkun will take another shot at heavyweight champion Phil De Fries as the two run back their KSW 47 battle. The c0-main event will feature the first title defense of lightweight champion Marian Ziolkowski. His challenger is one of Poland’s true rising stars. So early in his career with a record of 7-1, Maciej Kazieczko, has an opportunity to claim KSW gold.

Finding MMA and Early Career

For Kazieczko, finding MMA was just was ending up being his calling at the end of the day. “I found my way to martial arts by trying various sports with better or worse results. My last sport was MMA, which turned out to be perfect for me,” Kazieczko told MyMMANews. So early in his professional career at 27-years-old, Kazieczko has been in the professional ranks since 2015. Since that time, there have been several instrument coaches and teammates to aid in his rapid development. When asked which coaches have been instrumental in his development, Kazieczko responded with, “These are all my coaches that I had from the beginning of my adventure with martial arts: Marcin Kotas, Piotr Gular, Jakub Kozera, Patryk Proszek, Andrzej Kościelski (sequential from the oldest to the present one.) And my friend Marcin Bilman, with whom I have always trained. Currently, he is also a very good trainer,” stated Kazieczko.

Rise Up the KSW Ranks

Joining KSW only one fight into your MMA career is not an easy task. Kazieczko has made the best of it, 7-1 while riding a current four-fight winning streak. In his last out, Kazieczko went toe-to-toe with one of Croatia’s best in Karlo Caput at KSW 54 in August 2020. Kazieczko walked out of the cage with a third-round TKO victory and a title shot. “This opportunity is for me the fulfillment of what I was striving for. It used to be unreal to me, but with each success, I began to believe it. Later that was my specific goal. I feel happy,” stated Kazieczko.

After all the hard work and dominant victories tallied up, Kazieczko has earned his chance at the KSW lightweight title against the newly-crowned Marian Ziolkowski, making his first title defense. Long-tenured then-champion Mateusz Gamrot vacated the title to sign with the UFC. Ziolkowski won the vacant title after defeating Roman Szymanski at KSW 57 in December 2020. Kazieczko has shown the skill and determination needed to be a champion in the KSW ranks. A victory at KSW 60 could be the beginning of a long, prosperous reign.
