MFC and Dave Leduc Eyeing New Countries After Successful Events In Europe

After two successful events in Europe, Marshall Fighting Championship is eyeing international waters as an expansion for their multi-combat sport events. MFC 2 featured two Lethwei fights, one serving as the main event, mixed martial arts, and boxing. The emphasis on Lethwei shouldn’t be surprising, however. MFC President Dave Leduc is the crowned King of Lethwei. Leading the promotion and his beloved sport forward, Leduc and MFC look to grow the sport internationally while spotlighting some of the best fighters in the world across many sports.

Dave Leduc: Our niche is Lethwei

While MFC is a multi-sport company, Leduc and his Lethwei roots wants to use both Lethwei and MFC to grow each other. But for Leduc, it’s not just putting on events that makes him excited. it’s the level of the fights that he’s most excited about. Leduc also mentions expansion in other markets where he knows Lethwei and MFC would do well.

“I am extremely proud of the quality of fights we have been putting on. We were delighted with a bloody Lethwei war for main event Kosik vs Lariviere at MFC 1 last year, and now we were once again gifted another instant classic for MFC 2 with Hatala vs Saladiak. Our niche is Lethwei. We had MMA, K-1, Pro Boxing, and with Lethwei as the main event, we get maximum excitement, media coverage and blood, I think we really stand out as a multi disciplinary promotion. I am very so happy to be able to bring new eyes and give a spotlight to the sport that changed my life, the ancient combat art of Myanmar. Next I’d love to bring our events to the Middle East or Asia, I think it would be really fun.”

The events have been really fun. After watching MFC 2 on FITE.tv, seeing Lethwei back in action after the coup in Myanmar, which makes the sport really hard to follow, fans who are looking for that super-niche sport full of blood and violence are starting to get their fix again, finally.

The belts presented at MFC 2 are actually pretty awesome as well. The World Lethwei Federation issued their first ever Lethwei Lightweight title which is reminiscent of boxing’s WBA, WBC, IBF and IBO belts. The belt was manufactured by the same company as those iconic belts and was presented to Artur Saladiak upon defeating Ivan Hatala in round four of the main event.

As for the name, Marshall Fighting Championship is named after UFC commentator Joe Rogan’s adorable dog. After the Marshall Inu coin started, the team behind the project started paying MMA fighters extra bonuses. Shortly after, the group started their promotion and appointed Dave Leduc as the MFC President.

“I think that everyone takes life way too seriously… We were looking for a name for the promotion and we decided to call it ‘Marshall Fighting Championship’ after Marshall, Joe Rogan’s dog. It’s f***ing  hilarious. We have some of the most badass fight on earth, while also having the funniest origin story and name.”

MFC 3 is currently being organized and won’t be an event to miss. With more Lethwei, more MMA, and more other sports bound to happen, it’s about time someone is giving these sports the spotlight they deserve.
