Nathaniel Wood batters Charles Rosa at UFC London

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to us today, July 23, 2022, for UFC Fight Night 208, going down live from the o2 Arena in London, England.

Headlining the event is a heavyweight clash of contenders between no. 4 Curtis Blaydes (16-3) and no. 6 Tom Aspinall (12-2), and co-headlining is a middleweight contest between Jack Hermansson (22-7) and Chris Curtis (29-8).

Our feature preliminary bout came in the featherweight division between former Cage Warriors bantamweight champion Nathaniel Wood (17-5) and Charles Rosa (14-7).

Rosa is looking to snap his two-fight losing skid with a win tonight, and Wood looks to improve to 1-0 in his new division of 145 lbs.

Official Result: Nathaniel Wood def. Charles Rosa via unanimous decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-27)

Wood is quite dominant to start the fight, beginning with his leg kicks. He lands a number of them, which sets up his crisp boxing. Wood is right in Rosa’s grill throwing heavy leather, landing often, and he drops Rosa momentarily in the middle of the round.

With about 40 seconds left in the first, Rosa secures a takedown and remains on top until the bell sounds.

Wood drops Rosa twice more in the second, both of which came as a result of his lead leg kick, and he also secured three foot sweeps on Rosa in the middle stretch. He lets him up each time so he can continue striking.

Wood is on point today, what a performance he’s putting on in his featherweight debut!

Wood drops Rosa four more times with leg kicks in the third, and also lands a lot of punches on the battered Rosa.

This was a tough night at the office for Charles Rosa, who falls to 5-9 inside the octagon.

Nathaniel Wood on the other hand improves his promotional record to 5-2 with this dominant victory at UFC London.

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
