Paulo Costa sends chilling message to Israel Adesanya: “You are not a real champion, I will kill you”

In the now widely-seen interview between UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya and Paulo Costa, tempers flared ahead of their scheduled UFC 253 title fight and they don’t seem to be letting up any time soon.

Making an appearance on Submission Radio, Costa sent a chilling message to the middleweight champion as their rivalry continues to develop before they face each other in September. In his interview with Submission Radio, and had one question for the champion reflecting on his last performance.

“I have just one question Adesanya, why you freeze when you face [Yoel] Romero? You are not real champion, you don’t deserve it. I will kill you.”

The middleweight top contender did not stop there with his comments towards Adesanya, calling the champion “fragile” and wants to stay true to his nickname as “The Eraser” and believes he will wipe away the champion.

“He’s fragile, he knows he can not get two or three very hard hits on his face, on his body, he will be broken. He knows that already because he’s been knocked out two times, with big gloves in kickboxing to a guy named Alex Perreira with big gloves, 14 or 16 oz gloves. Imagine what I can do with him, with his skinny, fragile body with 4oz on my hands. I will erase him. I definitely will erase him. Prepare to be erased, Adesanya.”

This matchup between Adesanya and Costa has tons of hype and attention attached to it, as even UFC President Dana White said it could be the Fight Of the Year in 2020. Both fighters are undefeated in their career with Adesanya having one title defense (Yoel Romero), capturing the title against Robert Whittaker, and winning the interim title over Kelvin Gastelum. As for Costa, he has wins over former title challenger Yoel Romero, former champion Johny Hendricks, and Uriah Hall.

The fight between Adesanya and Paulo Costa could’ve happened earlier according to Costa’s manager, but now that it’s set in stone, the buildup heading into the fight should be as exciting as the fight itself.
