Stevie Ray talks PFL Championship bout against Oliver Aubin-Mercier

In the video above, Stevie Ray talks his PFL Championships 2022 bout vs. Oliver Aubin-Mercier on November 25th.

“I believe I can knock him out.”

PFL finalist Stevie Ray dedicates his time to sit down with Lenny from MyMMANews.

Stevie Ray has had a year to remember in 2022 and it potentially get a million times better.  The Scot started the 2022 season losing a unanimous decision to Alex Martinez. Ray showed gratitude and determination in his next two bouts to earn a spot in the finale beating MMA pioneer Anthony Pettis back-to-back.

Now, on November 25th, Stevie Ray will look to take the $1,000,000 dollars and the PFL Lightweight Championship back to Scotland.

His thoughts on Oliver Aubin-Mercier match-up:

“It’s pretty hard to visualize any fight. I go through the motions in my head like every fight, sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn’t. I believe in my skills; I believe I can knock him out and submit him and beat him on decision.

I know he’s a strong solid fighter, he’s big for the weight. He’s a southpaw and got power in his hands and got good kicks. It is a tough test but that is the same for him.

I knew against Pettis, I could knock him out or submit him or beat him by decision. It is the case of training your a** off and seeing how it goes on the night.”

Since signing with the PFL, Oliver Aubin-Mercier has been perfect thus far, what will Ray implement to hand the Canadian his first promotional loss?

“You can only be undefeated for so long…especially in MMA. He has lost before [Outside the PFL], he has lost to some good guys, he lost three in a row in the UFC against top-level guys.

I’m going to be on another level, I’m going to be the fittest and best Stevie Ray that there has been, that’s what is going to be the difference. He better believe I’m trying my a** off and that I’ll be coming.”

On November 25th, Stevie Ray has the chance to win the PFL Lightweight Championship. Along with that the one-million dollars prize.

“It is huge, life changing. He is a good fighter with a lot on the line. I message my manager to ask about that because there is such a big drop in purse if you lose, to the point I kinda feel bad for the fighters who lose. That is how the game works sometimes.

I found the love for the sport again. I’m enjoying being back and competing. I’m coming for next year as well, I’m looking forward to winning this and getting a world title and one-million dollars.”
