Tim Elliott sponsoring fighter competing against Kevin Croom, man who allegedly had affair with his wife
There never seems to be a dull moment in the combat sports scene these days. In today’s news, UFC fighter Tim Elliott will sponsor Tony Soto, who will compete in a Bare Knuckle FC bout against Kevin Croom at BKFC 52 this weekend in Columbia, South Carolina.
That might not seem that strange at face value, a fighter sponsoring another fight, but it is the meaning behind the sponsorship that makes the fight even more intriguing.
Earlier this year Elliott went public with news that his now ex-wife, Gina Mazany, and Croom, (both former UFC fighters) were having an affair.
Croom served as Elliott’s best man at the wedding, and according to the information released, the adultery even took place on that night.
Elliott, 36, posted a photo on Twitter that he said shows Mazany reading wedding vows to Elliott’s daughter, with his teammate Croom holding the microphone for her.
“You want to see something gross? This is my ‘wife’ reading vows to my daughter on our ‘wedding’ night,” Elliott, who said he’s no longer married to Mazany, wrote along with the photo. “The guy holding the microphone was my ‘friend/teammate’ my wife cheated on me with this guy the same night! and they have had a relationship our entire ‘marriage.’ “
Obviously bitter about what took place, Elliott has found a legal way to extract revenge on Croom, in sponsoring Soto.
Elliott’s daughter, Sterling, is from a previous marriage.
Elliott claimed on Twitter that he found out about the cheating via texts sent from Mazany to a friend, and that Mazany later confessed to him.
Elliott also alleged that Mazany did not come back with him after the wedding due to “friends there from out of state” while he took his daughter home to go to sleep.
Mazany and Croom are now together.
After the sponsorship was announced, MMA Fighting’s Damon Martin reported on the news on his Twitter account. Martin wrote, “Of course, Croom is the guy who allegedly had an affair with Elliott’s ex-wife…”
Elliott chimed in, “Not allegedly 100% did.”
Croom is currently undefeated in bare knuckle fighting, boasting a perfect 2-0 record and a 100% finish rate.
Soto too is undefeated with the BKFC promotion at 5-0 and is coming off a unanimous decision win over Tyler Goodjohn in what is potentially a ‘Fight of the Year’ candidate.
