Travis Fulton dead after apparent suicide while in jail
Former professional mixed martial artist, Travis Fulton, is dead.
Travis Fulton, who was known to have the most fights in professional MMA with 323 pro bouts, was found dead in his jail cell in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, as a result of an apparent suicide, according to a release from the Linn County (Iowa) Sheriff’s Office.
Fulton, 44, was found hanging in his cell at approximately 4 a.m. He had just plead guilty on Friday to two of four charges of child pornography and sexual exploitation of a child.
The former fighter was indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of sexual exploitation of a child, possession of child pornography and receipt of child pornography in February.
Fulton was also facing charges for domestic assault from an incident in September 2019. Fulton and the woman who sustained injuries in that incident were both arrested earlier this year in violation of a restraining order.
The sheriff’s office said Fulton’s death is under investigation and the state medical examiner will conduct an autopsy. Fulton was pronounced dead around 5 a.m. local time.
According to Tapology, Fulton’s first fight on record took place in 1996. The most recent occurred in November 2019, a knockout loss to Richard Carmack.
