From Boxing Tyson Fury to MMA Cage: Croatian boxing star Agron Smakici to make MMA debut at BRAVE CF 81

It is not every day that you get to see a top name in boxing transitioning into MMA. At BRAVE CF 81, the MMA world will witness just that when Croatian boxing sensation Agron Smakici makes his professional MMA debut.

Holding a professional boxing record of 20-2 to his name, Smakici will be venturing into unexplored territory when he makes his MMA debut against Patryk Dubiela at BRAVE CF 81 in Slovenia.

While MMA fighters entering the boxing realm has become a common occurrence in the present scenario, Smakici will be swimming against this wave and that too, by making his debut in the most global MMA organization in the world.

Having started his professional boxing career back in 2011, Smakici has fought across the globe over the past decade. He is currently one of the top ranked Heavyweight boxers in Croatia.

With 18 out of his 20 wins in boxing coming through knockouts, the punching power of Smakici needs no special mention. In fact, Smakici’s punching power has its own place in the history books of boxing as it was due to Smakici’s punch that the scheduled bout between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk had to be postponed.

A sparring partner for boxing superstars like Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, the 6-foot 6-inch Croatian cut open Fury during one of the sparring sessions which in turn postponed the Fury vs. Usyk showdown scheduled for 17 February 2024. Despite the incident, Smakici gained the respect of Tyson Fury who even recommended the Croatian as a sparring partner for Joseph Parker.

Now, Smakici is hoping to make his mark in the MMA world when he steps into the BRAVE Combat Federation cage. BRAVE CF 81 will take place in Ljubljana on 20 April and will see the representation of 13 nations on the fight card.
