UFC 299 – The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

UFC 299 was a great night for fighters like Sean O’Malley, Dustin Poirier, Maycee Barber, Curtis Blaydes and Jack Della Maddalena. Meanwhile, fighters like Benoit Saint Denis, Jailton Almeida and Gilbert Burns had rough nights at the office.

Overall, UFC 299 was a great night of fights and now that event is over with, its now time to recap the event by going over the good, the bad and the ugly.

The full recap can be seen in the video above.

The Good – Sean O’Malley and Dustin Poirier

O’Malley looked amazing in his victory over Marlon Vera as he outclassed Vera from start to finish in the UFC 299 main event. What else can you say other than that O’Malley was dominate, impressive and the “suga” show continues to roll on.

Meanwhile, Dustin Poirier came into his co-main event against Benoit Saint Denis as a betting underdog as many thought Saint Denis had the power to knockout Poirier early.

Instead, it was Poirier getting the huge knockout win in the second round to keep his title dreams alive.

Honorable Mention – Maycee Barber

Barber picked up another win at UFC 299 and will now be ranked in the top five of the UFC flyweight division. She should get a big time matchup next.

The Bad – Jailton Almeida

Almeida headlined the prelims for UFC 299 and he rag dolled Curtis Blaydes in the opening round by securing takedown after takedown.

Then in round two, he shot in, missed and would never get back up as Blaydes hit Almeida with punch after punch to get a knockout win.

Honorable Mention – Benoit Saint Denis

Big step up in competition for Saint Denis and he lost in an entertaining fight. Hopefully he’ll learn from the experience and come back better than ever.

The Ugly – Gilbert Burns

Burns was up 2-0 on two of the judges scorecards and was five minutes away from a win.

In the last round, he got caught with a huge knee from Jack Della Maddalena that would lead to his knockout loss.

Very tough break for Burns, who is going to drop in the welterweight rankings.
