Zamboanga vs Ham decision upheld in ONE Atomweight Grand Prix

The Zamboanga vs Ham decision remains intact after a recent review took place.

Denice Zamboanga and Seo Hee Ham’s prizefight at the history-making, all women card ONE: Empower was received by some in a polarizing way.

Many seeing Ham accruing the most meaningful levels of damage. Adhering to the layout of the ONE Global ruleset best. While some thought Zamboanga won; favoring her pressure and pace with the grappling exchanges.

SCMP MMA was the first to report this after South China Morning Post received the news of the review from ONE Championship figurehead Chatri Sityodtong.

Denice Zamboanga and Seo Hee Ham tested skills in a wildly entertaining back and forth bout. A high-stakes prizefight in the ONE Atomweight Grand Prix quarterfinals.

ONE used a committee comprised of anonymous judges, former athletes, and experts for this review. Both internally present within ONE and from some outside consultation.

Nine of the fourteen committee members were all like-minded in their voting. Seeing it fitting to uphold the initial split decision verdict in the favor of Seo Hee Ham.

This internal review dynamic has similarities to Eddie Alvarez’s first bout during the ONE on TNT series that became overturned.

Zamboanga vs Ham decision

Zamboanga was emotional after leaving the ONE Circle following the Ham fight and her team seemed to adamantly campaign for the bout to be looked at by the ONE committee.

Also per SCMP MMA and according to ONE Championship CEO Sityodtong, Denice Zamboanga will now be taking on Julie Mezabarba in a Grand Prix alternate bout. This curiously after Mezabarba bested Mei Yamaguchi in an Atomweight Grand Prix alternate bout at ONE: Empower.

Seo Hee Ham’s advancement to the semi-finals of the ONE Atomweight Grand Prix now goes onward uninterrupted. The specific, fan-voted semi-final matchup reveals will happen at ONE: Revolution on September 24th.
