Louis Neglia and Frankie Perez must have been in a very generous mood as they sat down to construct the fight card for Ring of Combat 77.  ROC will be awarding four new championship belts on September 9th at the Tropicana Hotel and Casion Resort in Atlantic City.

Sergio DeBari (5-2) will take on Nekruz Mirkhojaev (5-3) for the vacant ROC featherweight strap.  In the co-main event, Phil “the Hitman” Caracappa (9-2) defends his bantamweight gold against the very tough Suhrob Aidarbekov (5-4).

In the main event, the vacant lightweight championship will be decided as dangerous striker Cedric Gunnison (4-1) will welcome Lenny “the Gorilla” Rufati (5-5) back to NJ as Rufati has been fighting closer to his Wisconsin home in his last four contests as he has relocated there from the east coast. The Gorilla is moving back down to 155lbs for the championship opportunity, and he will also have tons of support in the stands from his fellow Albanians.

The vacant middleweight belt will be on the line in a monster match-up as Troy Green (4-1) tries to stop A.T. McCowin (5-2).  This is a classic match-up of two guys who love to strike but are also capable of getting that takedown. Green lost for the first time in March and now has decided to stop cutting so much weight and will move up from the welterweight division to compete for a title at Ring of Combat, where he is 4-0.  McCowin started his professional career 1-2, took a two-year break, and has returned with four straight victories.

MyMMANews reached out to chat with the always cheerful AT McCowin to see what was on the agenda for his showdown with Green.  He says…

“Unfortunately, it’s not going to go well for Troy.  There’s gonna be a lot of pain, a lot of aggression.  We all know I’m no stranger to taking pain, but kind of do it with a smile and I enjoy it.  I’m not sure he’s going to enjoy the amount of pain that I’m going to condition out.”

A.T. fights out of 302 BJJ in Delaware but tells us that he’s had some help from other gyms and for that, he is very grateful.  I consider McCowin a part of the #phillymma crew as the region continues to churn out high level fighters and mixed martial artists.  Check out our interview on the link above.  A.T. will put a smile on your face just like he did to me.

Ring of Combat is brought to you by Louis Neglia and Dead Serious Promotions.  They have just signed a new broadcasting deal and on September 9th at 8:30 pm ET we will be live on Airy.Tv via Maybacks Global Enterprises.  If you can’t make it to Atlantic City, download the app and watch for FREE. I will be cage-side with live commentary along with Jay Regalbuto, who is one of the brightest jiu-jitsu minds in the game right now.
