Cody McKenzie QUITS MMA
“I’m done fighting I would call it retiring but I never made no money so yea I quit.”
Those are the words tweeted by former Ultimate Fighter contestant Cody McKenzie just a few days after his KO loss to Beslan Isaev at M-1 Challenge 54 in St. Petersburg, Russia.
McKenzie (15-7) went (4-5) while in the UFC. He spoke harshly about his former employer in Zuffa, the parent company of the UFC, in a video before the fight in Russia. He states that he basically fought for free, never made any money and that UFC President Dana White mocked him at a press conference.
Here is the video of that tirade
McKenzie leaves the sport at just 27 years of age and will likely head back to Alaska where he worked on fishing boats. He is remembered for his modified guillotine choke which he called the McKenzietine.
