Dan Ige vs Movsar Evloev added to UFC Fight Night 211

We’ve been informed of a stellar featherweight match up coming up this spring, as ranked contenders Dan Ige and Movsar Evloev do battle at UFC Fight Night 211.

This event is to go down on June 4, 2022, at a to-be-determined venue and location.

Ige (15-5), coming in ranked at no. 10, has lost his last two-straight to the likes of Chan Sung Jung and Josh Emmett, while Evloev (15-0), coming in ranked at no. 13, still has yet to lose in his professional career.

However, Ige did leave early impressions once coming over to the worlds leading mixed martial arts promotion.

Following a decision defeat to Julio Arce in his promotional debut, Ige then went on to win his next six-straight, securing back-to-back wins over Mirsad Bektic and Edson Barboza in those fifth and sixth victories.

Ige would then lose a five-round decision to Calvin Kattar, before KO’ing Gavin Tucker in just 22 seconds.

Then came his back-to-back defeats in his latest two appearances.

Evloev on the other hand came over to the UFC as a multi-time M-1 Global bantamweight champion, securing a fifth-round KO victory in his latest title defense. He’d also been five rounds prior to that, when he unified his interim title.

That was followed up by a third-round submission victory over Sergey Morozov, a fellow current UFC talent, before KO’ing that next challenger in round five.

Since then, he’s gone 5-0 inside the octagon over the likes of Seung Woo Choi, Enrique Barzola, Mike Grundy, Nik Lentz, and lastly, Hakeem Dawodu. The one flaw some could point out is the fact he didn’t finish one of these opponents, though he barely lost a round.

Evloev is a very technical striker with a good Greco-Roman wrestling base, while Ige too is a good striker, but he has a BJJ black belt to go along with it. That’s not to say he can’t wrestle though, Ige’s wrestling is actually very good.

It’ll be interesting seeing how these two match up with one another.

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
