Greece hosts GAMMA European MMA Championship
The central Greece city of Lamía is readying to put on the GAMMA European MMA Championship. The pugilistic proceedings transpire from September 29th to October 3rd. The senior championship event brings together male and female athletes from GAMMA’s European National Federations. They will all compete across 16 weight classes in two divisions over the five days of combative competition. The divisions will be MMA and also the newly added Striking MMA.
The GAMMA European Senior MMA Championship was originally to go down in Prague. But because of the remaining restrictions as a result of COVID-19, the decision to re-locate is now the plan.
The measurable growth patterns continue here for GAMMA operations as they look towards this upcoming run of fights in the Fall.
GAMMA European MMA Championship
GAMMA President Alexander Engelhardt offered this statement on the upcoming events. “We had high confidence in our partners in Prague. But GAMMA had to move decisively. To ensure that our athletes from Europe had the opportunity to compete at the continental level in 2021. We are very pleased to have a strong partner in the Hellenic Wrestling Federation ready to step up and organize our first European Championship”.
Hellenic Wrestling Federation President Stergios Leonakis also put out a statement in regards to this news. “We know that athletes have been itching for competition and with the approval from the Sport Ministry of Greece. We’re glad to be able to support the mixed martial arts community in these trying times. We are confident of hosting a safe and successful event for all participating athletes and officials. Through our collaboration with the municipality of Lamía and prefecture of Fthiotida.”
The new plans for the GAMMA European Senior MMA Championship do not affect promotional plans for GAMMA’s Asian Championship. This championship showcase will be held from July 21st until the 26th in Kyrgyzstan as it was originally scheduled.
