Jamahal Hill hoping to return at UFC 292 against Jiri Prochazka

UFC light heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill says he is hoping to return at UFC 292 against former champion Jiri Prochazka.

Hill defeated Glover Teixeira earlier this year to win the vacant UFC light heavyweight title. Of course, the title was only vacant because Prochazka gave up his belt late last year after injuring his shoulder during training. Instead of keeping the belt while he was injured, Prochaka decided to do the morally right thing and vacate the title so the division didn’t keep waiting for him. Soon after, Hill fought Teixeira for the vacant title and won it with a dominant five-round title victory back in June.

Since winning the belt, Hill has not been booked for his next fight, which is surprising lots of fans and media, since there are several contenders such as Magomed Ankalaev and Jan Blachowicz who would likely take the fight if offered it. However, it appears that Hill is hoping Prochazka will fight him next.

Speaking to MMAjunkie.com in a recent interview, Hill admitted that he wants to defend his title in Boston in August at UFC 292, and if it had it his way, he is hoping that Prochazka stands across him.

“I’m hearing maybe August (in Boston) – hopefully we get that in and get that contract soon. I’m not trying to wait past August. That’s all I know. I don’t want to wait past summer. Whether it’s Jiri or whoever steps forward, I’m ready to get it in. “Whoever steps forward (if Prochazka isn’t ready), because right now, no one else make sense for real. Some guys are going to have to make some leaps or whatever to put themselves out and separate themselves from the pack. Whoever that is, that’s who I’ll take on,” Hill said.

Who do you think will win between Jamahal Hill and Jiri Prochazka if they fight later this year?
