Joanna Jedrzejczyk talks Zhang Weili rematch, new UFC contract and life outside the octagon

Joanna Jedrzejczyk is back.

In late 2020, rumors surfaced that the strawweight legend was retiring. Then in January of 2021, Jedrzejczyk told MyMMANews that she was definitely going to fight again.

Finally, after a few years of waiting, the world will once again see Jedrzejczyk fight again when she takes on Zhang Weili at UFC 275 in rematch of their March 2020 meeting which resulted in Weili edging Jedrzejczyk by a split decision in what was the greatest women’s fight of all time.

Prior to the fight, Jedrzejczyk spent around 30 minutes talking with MyMMANews in detail about her upcoming fight.

Jedrzejczyk opened by talking about her new multi-fight contract and her business deals outside of the octagon. After talking about business, she spoke about the fight and training at American Top Team.

With being away from the fight game for over two years, Jedrzejczyk is aware that people may think she will have ring rust, but she doesn’t foresee that being an issue as she has been training for the last two years in the lead up to this fight.

While the majority of the conversation was around the immediate future, there was brief talk on the distant future. Jedrzejczyk believes she will hold the strawweight title again and doesn’t think the UFC will shy away from a third meeting with Rose Namajunas if things play out that way.

As for a future move to flyweight, the option is always on the table, the Polish star doesn’t see that move happening anytime soon.
